Jesse de Foundation
Jesse de Champlain, often just known as Jesse D, was a local Calgary Skateboard Legend. In the 90’s and early 2000’s at a time when skateboarding was still a fringe activity, Jesse was at the top of the Canadian scene with his effortless style and big bag of tricks. A kind and gentle soul, Jesse skateboarded for one reason; because he loved it. Jesse could always be spotted downtown, Milz, 403 Indoor and Source Park just to name a few. Anytime he was skating, everyone else was watching.
Unfortunately his life was cut short at the age of 36 in an unfortunate backcountry accident in Banff National Park. He was very passionate about the outdoors, and loved spending time in the mountains, splitboarding, hiking and camping. He especially enjoyed spending time with his friends & showed a lot of love to all of them. Jesse passed doing what he loved, embracing life to the fullest.
The Jesse D Foundation was set up and is directed by his family. With the local skateboard/snowboard community they work in collaboration to provide opportunities for kids to enjoy the two sports that gave him so much joy.
If you know of a local young skateboarder or snowboarder that is kind, hardworking and motivated and is held up for financial reasons, please nominate them as a recipient. The recipients can receive equipment at local skate shops or skateboard lessons and camps.
