What got you into skating? I got into skating after I got a board for Christmas, but what really solidified it was going to the indoor skatepark for the first time and meeting other kids to skate with

Why do you like working at The Compound? I enjoy being involved in the skate community and working at The Compound has been a great way to stay involved, support the community and help it grow

Isa has been coaching with 100% skate club and been a part of the skateboard scene in Calgary for years. Her calm demeanor, positive attitude and passion for helping others are some of the reasons why we love having her coaching at The Compound!

What got you into skating? My older brother got me into skating a few years back. He had begged me for years to get into it even if it was to film him or his friends. Just before Covid happened I had given it a go and had enjoyed it, then during Covid I decided to give it a proper go it was a hobby we did together.
Favourite features to skate? I’d say probably the step up(euro gap), it’s not too tall or too long so you can really throw any tricks up it!
Favourite shoes to wear skateboarding? New Balance Tiago 1010s
Why do you like working at The Compound? I really enjoy the fact that the whole skate community can congregate here and everyone just hypes each other up no matter the skill level or difficulty. It’s also been really opening up the opportunity to meet people in the community who you probably wouldn’t see at your local outdoor park! It’s a good hub for everyone over the winter seasons as well!

I love to skate stair sets and manual pads

Right now my favourite shoes are the Vans Aves 2.0. I also love the Vans Half Cabs
Why do you like working at The Compound?
I like working at the compound because I for one love skateboarding and I also have a passion for teaching others how to skate. I also enjoy being around all of the people who come to The Compound

What got you into skating?
First time I saw someone skate I thought it was the coolest thing ever. I remember going to the skate park with my dad and brother when I was younger, I thought it looked fun so I decided to try!
Favourite features to skate?
The bump to bar is my favourite feature to skate, the dimensions are perfect

Vans half cabs or Vans hylanes
Why do you like working at The Compound?
I love working at the compound because of the strong community we’ve built, it’s so cool to see how much people progress over the years. I love that it keeps the skate scene so alive during the winter. Best place to be!

Why do you like working at The Compound? I like working at the compound because I’m doing something that I enjoy for work, I also like seeing progression with the kids that I’m coaching

I saw a video on Youtube called “Best of Rodney Mullen” and wanted to try skateboarding after that

One of my good friends Presley got me into skating and my dad skated when he was a kid so he was motivating

My favourite features to skate are rails. Like handrails

I like working at the compound because I love skateboarding and I think it’s Awesome to see the young kids skating

My favorite feature is either banks or halfpipes

My favorite shoes to wear skateboarding are the new balance 440s

I like working at the compound because it gives me the opportunity to give kids a new hobby

What got you into skating? I got into skating after finding a skateboard whilst cleaning out the garage and took my first skateboard lessons at the old Calgary mobile skateparks

What got you into skating?
I liked it a lot as a kid in the Philippines but I slammed bad enough to scratch my face up and for my mom to ban me from it. Fast forward to the start of the covid pandemic and since team sports were unavailable, I thought I’d try to learn how to ollie at least. I’m very happy I decided to give it a go. Skating has given me so much and I’m very grateful for it
Favourite features to skate?
I like quarters and boxes/pads. But I want to get better at ledges, rails, stair sets and bowls
Favourite shoes to wear skateboarding?
I’ll give you my top four: Globe Melbek, Adidas 3MC (RIP), Converse Fastbreak, Asics Japan Pro
Why do you like working at The Compound?
I like working at the compound because it’s a nice community to be a part of. I love working with homies and I love seeing fellow adult learners get stoked on skating. It’s a great place to be

If you don't know Jayson, he's been working at The Compound for 7 years and has been a sponsored skateboarder for about that long as well!
Growing up in Calgary, he's a staple in the Calgary skate scene. Skates for Ninetimes, Vans and Habitat and has traveled North America for events like The Tampa Am contest. Now, Jayson mostly makes video parts and coaches full time with us.

Meet Jesse Ingrilli! Jesse has been in the skate scene for 12 years, highly involved with Vans and Ninetimes skate shop. Super successful street skater, as well as vert skater and Jesse also skated on the Canadian National Skateboard team for 2 years from 2021 to 2023.

Beth
Beth grew up in our snowboard club in Edmonton, then moved to Banff for a season and is now living in Calgary. She has been coaching skateboarding and snowboarding for 5 years and we're super stoked to have Beth coaching at skate camps again!
